Bishop Namango Foundation (BNF) is guided by the late Bishop Isaac Namango’s core teaching: that local people, inspired to connect with each other, can form a strong chain of unity against poverty, Ignorance and backwardness. It is the mission of the foundation to inspire the underprivileged realise their dreams by assisting them to access education and teaching them to care for the environment.

Our foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged individuals in our community. Our mission includes empowering the community by providing access to education and impacting environmental awareness. We strive to create sustainable solutions that enable individuals to break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future for themselves and their families. Our foundation values accountability, transparency, and collaboration with both local and non local partners to ensure our efforts are impactful and aligned with the needs of the community. Together, we believe that every individual has the right to a better life and we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.

Touching people, transforming the society, is one of the ideals the late Bishop Isaac Namango lived for. He recognised that: Human existence depends on Knowledge and Compassion: Knowledge without Compassion is Inhuman; Compassion without Knowledge is Ineffective. Acknowledging this fact, Bishop Namango established a strong chain of unity among locals and linked them to a network of friends across other sectors; as a result, a mindset was established and various educational and health institutions were built that keep contributing to elimination of poverty, Ignorance and backwardness.

This approach is now extended to all our work at the foundation, whether it’s enabling orphans, street children, people with disabilities (PWD’s), victims of sexually and gender based violence (SGBV), and the poor access school or creating awareness about environment issues and doing clean-up programmes for targeted schools, hospitals, markets including planting of trees to mitigate the climate change factors. BNF, in fact, reiterates the need for knowledge and compassion in order to attain sustainable development.

The mission of the foundation will also be evident at home, in Khasoko village, where we intend to build the Bishop Namango Resource Centre (BNRC). This will not only be a public gathering space that celebrates the first bishop and the icon of the people, but a place where the underprivileged can access various learning materials including the internet. Here the needy, among others, will have an opportunity to be trained about the environment, be introduced to foreign languages and rare sports like lawn tennis & chess. It will be an arena for holding leadership training sessions, as well as activities towards peace and conflict resolutions. It will be a platform to help keep the youth away from alcohol and substance abuse.
