Ms. Alice Nakimweyi Mundia was born in Khasoko village, Bungoma County, Kenya, in 1959 to Isaac Namango and Grace Namango. She completed her studies through high school before marrying Rev. Dr. Wilberforce Mundia and moving to the United States of America, where they have built a life together for the past 40 years with their three children. Alice is currently the co-owner of a home care business serving the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina (USA) that hires nurses, aids, and health care professionals to look after the elderly, disabled, and those in need of post-surgery short-term care from the comfort of their homes, hospitals or rehabilitation centers.

Alice attended Khasoko Primary School and continued on to Amukura Primary Boarding School in Busia County. After completing her primary school education, Alice joined Lugulu Girls High School in Bungoma County for “O” levels, followed by Bishop Njenga Girls High School for “A” levels. While waiting for her results, she began a job as an untrained teacher at Moi Girls High School Kamusinga) where she taught Geography, English and Christian Religious Education.

Alice began her college education after settling in the United States at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where she obtained her Associates Degree in Business Administration. Alice and her husband Wilber then moved to North Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Computer Information. Shortly after graduation, Alice began working at North Carolina State University as a Research Administrator where she earned the respect of her colleagues and fellows and rose through the ranks over the next 14 years. Looking to expand her horizons, Alice sought out the research administrator position at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), another prestigious institution within the Carolina school system, where she worked for the next two years before becoming an entrepreneur and starting the home care business that she runs to this day.

The Bishop Namango Foundation holds a special place in Alice’s heart and its success is paramount to the future of Khasoko and surrounding rural communities. Leaving her home in Kenya many years ago was very hard for Alice, but she is grateful to be able to have such a wonderful connection to her family in Kenya and to the Bishop Namango Foundation fraternity. She acknowledges the Foundation’s Board and her parents, the late Mama Grace and Bishop Isaac Namango, for their outstanding work, a result of which the Bishop Namango Foundation is now a reality.
